Shipping Coordinator
*About the Role*
Carolina Electric is looking for a detail-oriented Shipping & Logistics Coordinator to manage the outbound flow of products from our facility to customers and job sites. This person will own the shipping process end-to-end — preparing and packing orders, coordinating pickups and deliveries with carriers, tracking shipments in transit, and resolving issues before they become customer problems. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable on the phone with shipping companies, and able to juggle multiple orders and deadlines at once.
*What You'll Do*
* Prepare, pack, label, and stage outbound orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy against packing slips and purchase orders
* Coordinate daily pickups and deliveries with carriers (LTL, parcel, freight) and schedule shipments based on order priority and delivery deadlines
* Call shipping companies directly to book freight, confirm pickup windows, request rate quotes, and resolve scheduling conflicts
* Track all outbound and inbound shipments, proactively following up on delays, exceptions, and lost or damaged freight
* Maintain accurate shipping logs and tracking records, and keep internal teams and customers updated on shipment status
* Generate and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and customs paperwork where applicable
* Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged goods claims, and delivery issues with carriers in a timely manner
* Compare carrier rates and service levels to recommend the most cost-effective and reliable shipping method for each order
* Maintain a clean, organized shipping area and ensure proper handling of materials, including any hazardous or fragile items
* Communicate proactively with sales, warehouse, and customer service teams on order status and shipping timelines
* Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes, reduce costs, and prevent recurring issues
*What We're Looking For*
* 1–3+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, or a warehouse environment
* Comfortable making frequent phone calls to carriers and shipping companies to coordinate and troubleshoot
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously
* Working knowledge of shipping methods (LTL, parcel, freight) and carrier documentation (BOLs, packing slips)
* Experience with shipping/tracking software or WMS systems a plus (e.g., ShipStation, FedEx/UPS platforms, ERP systems)
* Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to lift 50lbs
* A problem-solver who stays calm and follows through when shipments hit a snag
* High school diploma or equivalent required
*Nice to Have*
* Experience shipping electrical, industrial, or construction materials
* Familiarity with freight rate negotiation
* Forklift certification
